John Garfield as Mickey Borden
"Hmmm," says Mickey Borden, the cynical composer, when he first walks into the home of the musical Lemp family, "Rug, the smell of cooking in the kitchen, piano, flowers. It's homes like these that are the backbone of the nation."
Four Daughters, 1938

ReplyDeleteBest,
Anne :)
I love Four Daughters and will watch it whenever I know it is on. The banter, the silliness . . . the story.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Anne. I'm glad you enjoy it. I first watched Four Daughters many years ago and never forgot it. Decades later I dug it up and watched it and fell in love all over again. My memories of watching it the first time was the cherry tree, the organdy curtains, John Garfield, and Priscilla Lane. But there is nothing about this movie I don't like. It seems to be a glimpse at a very loving family. I agree, the banter and the silliness are the essence of it.
